E-commerce platform Shop.com has opened up the “next chapter in purchasing products” on its website through a partnership with crypto payment service provider BitPay, Bitcoin.com reported on 3 September.

The comment was made by Steve Ashley, the president of Shop.com, during the Market America 2021 International Convention (MAIC021), when he said the platform will now accept payments in several cryptocurrencies thanks to a partnership with BitPay. Shop.com — which is owned by Market America — has continued to be a trendsetter in the world of e-commerce thanks to the leadership Ashley according to the CEO of Market America, JR Ridinger, who said in a statement:

“As different online retailers scramble to create a plan of action to implement things like accepting cryptocurrency as a method of online payment, thanks to Steve Ashley – we’ve already done that”

The new partnership will enable customers to not only pay with major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), but also with Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), and five dollar-backed stablecoins. The integration will also be available in all countries Market America is active in, which includes the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia.

The new crypto option will appear during checkout, when customers will be able to select BitPay to pay using their crypto wallets. Through BitPay, Shop.com users will also be able to earn cashback on “thousands of products”, which would additionally stimulate the use of the new feature on the website.
