On September 4, MetaMask, a crypto wallet used to connect to various blockchain-based applications, announced the launch of the mobile version of its platform. The dapp is called MetaMask Mobile and is currently available for free download for all iPhone and Android users.
According to the announcement, the mobile app resembles an Ethereum wallet and provides its users with the ability to freely trade tokens and manage their cryptocurrency assets. What is more, MetaMask Mobile is said to be specifically designed to enable clients to discover other dapps and freely interact with them at any given time and place.
The application will enable mobile access to Web3, a next-generation Internet enabling true P2P transactions without a middleman. This is said to assist future users in interacting with the platform by providing them with access to a more transparent and security-focused web space.
MetaMask has more than 1 million users worldwide and, up to now, was available only as a browser extension. Its API generates passwords and keys on the users’ devices that allow them to keep their private data safe and share only what they decide. MetaMask works with the Ethereum mainnet, allowing clients to add assets such as ETH, ERC-20, or ERC-721 tokens.
Currently, MetaMask Mobile is available in beta version on both iOS and Android. IOS testflight users who want to access it in its production version can download the app from the Apple App Store and set up their wallet over again by using their seed phrase and syncing with their MetaMask extension. For Android users currently using the open beta, the app is said to seamlessly update to the production version once it is ready for market.
