According to a ConsenSys press release from 18 June, Infura, Truffle, and MetaMask will release a suite of developer tools to support dapps deploying on Optimistic Ethereum. Infura will offer Optimistic Ethereum support for developers as an API and Truffle will provide the tools necessary to deploy, test, and run applications on Optimism. A boilerplate Truffle Box is set to be released soon, which will simplify the process of deploying applications on Optimistic Ethereum.

As part of Infura hosting, ConsenSys’ MetaMask wallet will provide a lower-friction confirmation to users when adding the Optimistic Ethereum endpoint to their wallets. Dan Finlay, the Lead Developer of MetaMask, said that the team was excited to participate in the growth of the decentralized web through its support for Optimistic Ethereum.

“By providing an increase in transaction throughput, we mean to help Optimism make Ethereum more accessible and affordable for more people and use cases.”

Optimistic Ethereum is a Layer 2 scaling solution that uses an “optimistic rollup” solution to scale general smart contracts. This enables the solution to provide users with instant transactions, increase the network’s throughput, and lower gas costs. Optimism’s Optimistic Virtual Machine (OVM) is a fully-featured, Ethereum-compatible execution environment that can be used in Layer 2 systems. ConsenSys’ developer suite, which includes Infura and Truffle, enables developers to move their Solidity contracts onto Optimistic Ethereum with just a few lines of code.
