The acquisition comes after a successful collaboration period between the two entities, where Bitcoin.se used Safello’s Partner Widget product. The educational platform brought over a sizeable amount of trading volume to Safello, generating a significant part of Safello’s turnover in the past six months.

According to the company’s press release, Safello expects the acquisition will increase the company’s profitability and enable it to acquire new customers. David Hedqvist, founder of Bitcoin.se and board member of the Swedish Bitcoin Association, will remain as the editor-in-chief and active contributor of the platform.

“After 9 years as a one-man project I felt that Bitcoin.se deserved to be taken to the next level, but it was important to me that it was done in a way that didn’t compromise on its core values,” he said in the company’s press release.

Acquiring Bitcoin.se is part of Safello’s plans to get listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market in Q2 2021. Earlier this year, the exchange announced a strategic partnership with Klarna, a Swedish payment solution company, and added several new senior executives.
