Samsung Adds Support For Tron Dapps On Its App Store

  • Dapps such as Blockchain Cuties and Super Player are now available on one of the largest app stores in the world.
  • The new additions to the Galaxy Store will be available to users in U.S., Canada, South Korea, and several other countries.

Samsung mobile and tablet users can now download Tron-based dapps from a dedicated section on the Galaxy Store, Tron said in a press release on 27 April.

According to the announcement, on-chain games built on the Tron blockchain, such as Blockchain Cuties and Super Player, are now available for download from one of the largest app stores in the world, the Samsung Galaxy Store. Tron is also expecting to add more applications based on its blockchain in the near future. Justin Sun, the founder of Tron, commented on the new collaboration:

“We really enjoyed working with Samsung on the blockchain level integration. Now with Samsung Galaxy Store, we are taking our collaboration to the next level by integrating both ecosystems together. This is an incredible opportunity for developers to migrate and build on the TRON platform and put their applications in front of Samsung users.”

The new additions to the Samsung Galaxy Store will be available to users in the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Australia, the Philippines, Singapore and “some countries in Europe” the company stated in its press release. The firm further said that availability may vary depending on “carrier, market and device” used.

Tron and its token first became available on the Samsung Blockchain Keystore back in October 2019, when the two companies released a Software Development Kit (SDK) that gave users direct access the Tron blockchain through Samsung devices.

This collaboration may attract new users to the Tron blockchain, seeing as Samsung is one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. Last year, according to IHS Markit, Samsung was able to ship out around 295 million smartphones, while its competitor, Apple, only shipped 193 million.
