MVIS creates, oversees and licenses targeted, investable and diverse financial benchmark indices that are branded with the MVIS logo.
“We are pleased to launch this index for Intelligence Unit and the Nomura Research Institute,” commented the Managing Director at MVIS, Thomas Kettner. “We are happy to offer our services and deep expertise in digital assets indexing to the Japanese market.”
The Nomura Research Institute was founded in 1965 and offers a wide range of system solutions and consulting services, such as management and system integration that span across the retail, financial, manufacturing and service business sectors.
The new NRI/IU Crypto-Asset Index is aimed to be the premier crypto-asset benchmark for institutional investors in Japan. It provides a dependable reference point for evaluating performance. This performance can be easily graded with the help of benchmarks that are built through a transparent and easy-to-understand methodology.
It is created especially for Japanese institutional investors and crypto-asset exchanges by taking into account the local availability, custody solutions, JPY and USD currencies and official closing values in the Japan Standard Time.
The NRI/IU Crypto-Asset Index includes the most popular crypto assets:
Established in 2018, Intelligence Unit offers a crypto-asset investment platform for Japanese and global investors.
CEO Akihiro Niimi clarified their goal:
“Strong demand from institutional investors is contributing to the growth of crypto-asset funds, and well-diversified products like index funds are attractive as alternative investments. We will bridge the traditional financial world and the crypto-asset world by providing institutional grade crypto-asset benchmarks, further establishing the status of crypto-assets as alternative investments.”
Together with CryptoCompare, IU created a crypto exchange database. CryptoCompare provides real-time data for more than 3,200 coins and 150,000 currency pairs to institutions and retail investors.
Co-Founder and CEO, Charles Hayter noted:
“As part of our collaboration with MVIS, we are excited to offer institutional investors in Japan the first crypto asset investible index.”
