The global blockchain technology provider EMURGO and blockchain-based online travel agency (OTA) Travala.com announced a partnership aiming to push the adoption of Cardano’s native cryptocurrency ADA. The collaboration will allow Travala.com users from all around the world to book hotels and travel accommodations with ease, using ADA. Travelers will also receive 10% cashback on all hotel bookings, which were purchased with ADA, that is until July 31.

EMURGO creates enterprise-grade applications, developer tools, and provides blockchain education to governments, enterprises, startups, and developers. This new collaboration is just the next step of EMURGO’s persistent goal to drive the adoption of ADA. With offices and representations in Singapore, Japan, USA, India, and Indonesia, EMURGO will deliver value to the core ADA community as free travel is closer than ever after the pandemic.

Backed by Binance, Travala.com is the biggest cryptocurrency-friendly travel booking service worldwide. Founded in 2017, thanks to its partnership with Booking.com, it includes more than 2,000,000 properties in 230 countries and 600 airlines around the world. In addition to traditional payment options, Travala.com accepts more than 28 cryptocurrencies, making it quite convenient for the crypto users.

EMURGO CEO Ken Kodama commented on the new partnership:

“As global travel begins to gradually resume, EMURGO is excited to partner with Travala.com to bring functional utility to Cardano ADA users. Being able to book flights, hotels, and other travel accommodations with ADA at over 2 million properties in 90,000 international destinations demonstrates EMURGO’s focus to drive real-world Cardano adoption.”

Recently, Travala.com presented data, showing that, during the last 12 months, 60% of all processed bookings have been paid in cryptocurrency. As a confirmation of the steady recovery of the travel industry after the pandemic, the past six weeks showed more than 20% increase in total bookings each week. The most popular destinations after the COVID-19 spread are the United States, Thailand, and Australia.

Travala.com CEO Juan Otero expressed his enthusiasm:

“We’re extremely excited to partner with an industry titan to boost ADA adoption. Travel is the ideal venue for mass adoption of cryptocurrencies and as we all start to travel again, Travala.com will continue to provide a frictionless travel booking experience to anyone, anywhere.”
